I created this little journal with the intention of posting entries during my abroad travels in the fall.

Pre-trip setup - part 3

Some more testing, working on figure out how I want to add pictures. I really wish Google Photos would just provide me either some embed code or some direct links. Right now I'm just using the image source URL which seems wrong to me. I don't want to create local copies on my server because 1) pictures take up a ton of space and 2) my droplet only has like 20GB of storage I'd rather not waste on images I already have stored elsewhere. It's also takes forever because I have to get links for each picture. Embed code... that's the dream. C'mon Google, you have 5 months.

Meanwhile, enjoy some pictures from the Bahamas! It's crazy, these pictures look great to me and the camera in my S4 Active is only 6MP. Makes me wonder what the pictures from my new S7 will look like.. Guess we'll find out next week!

Pre-trip setup - part 2

Quick little update here. I'm finishing up my application essays, and I decided to go ahead and tackle the comment system. Hoping this actually works because it was SUPER easy to "install". Guess we'll find out pretty quick though.

Edit: Turns out it isn't quite as simple as I thought since my page is set up for multiple posts on a single page and the comment system is designed for one comment section per page. I'm not sure if I want to keep this ot not. Guess I'll have to figure that out later. It's getting late though so that's a project for another day.

Pre-trip setup

So I'm setting this up today because I visited the study abroad coordinator today, and I'm thoroughly pumped. I haven't officially applied yet, but from the way my advisor talked, it's pretty much a done deal once I put in my application.
